It carries a boxed warning — the strongest the FDA issues
In rodents this molecule caused thyroid C-cell tumors at clinically relevant exposures. Whether it does so in people is unknown, and the label carries that as a boxed warning. It is contraindicated outright with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.

NovoCare self-pay, read 4 September 2026: $149 a month at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg, and $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg. The page reads "Patients pay $149 for each month of 1.5 mg, $199 per month for 4 mg and $299 per month for 9 mg and 25 mg". One month is one bottle of 30 tablets. This card is the 25 mg product, so $299 is what it costs once titrated — the figure this site scores on. The card previously showed $149 to $199 and said NovoCare published no price for the 25 mg dose; Novo now publishes one, and the 4 mg price rose to $199 on 31 August exactly as the old note said it would.
What this page used to say
- 2026-09-12 — Removed: Wegovy pill supply is uneven. Was: Launched January 2026 — supply and pharmacy stocking are still uneven.
- 2026-09-11 — The date the label was published. Was: label published 2026-06-29. Now: label published 2026-06-30.
- 2026-09-11 — A con quoting a price the card no longer holds. Was: Telehealth programs mark it up hard: Ro at $373, Hims and LifeMD at $448 for a drug Novo sells at $149 to $299 depending on dose. Now: Telehealth programs add a membership on top of the drug — Ro and Hims both charge $149 a month on a monthly plan — while Novo sells the pill direct at $149 to $299 depending on dose.
- 2026-09-08 — The date the label was published. Was: label published 2026-06-18. Now: label published 2026-06-29.
- 2026-09-05 — Priced every step, including the maintenance dose. Was: 1.5 mg $149, 4 mg $149, 25 mg unpublished — no year total, and a note that NovoCare published no price for the 25 mg dose. Now: 1.5 mg $149, 4 mg $199, 9 mg $299, 25 mg $299, one 30-tablet bottle a month: $3,338 in year one against the $3,588 that $299 times twelve implies.
- 2026-09-05 — Removed the suicidality warning from the serious reactions on the side-effects page. Was: Suicidal behavior and ideation — the label says to monitor for it. Now: The line is gone; the remaining serious reactions are the label's current section 5 headings.
- 2026-09-05 — The Wegovy pill savings program: price, condition and end date. Was: $149 a month, with the catch that the 4 mg price ends 31 August 2026 and becomes $199 and that Novo publishes no price at all for the 25 mg maintenance dose; end date 31 August 2026. Now: $149 a month at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg, $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg, with the catch that $149 covers only the starting month and the maintenance dose is $299; no published end date.
- 2026-09-05 — Rebuilt the serious reactions as the label's section 5, in the label's order. Was: Five items: acute pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, acute kidney injury, diabetic retinopathy complications, pulmonary aspiration. Now: Nine, in label order, with the tablet's own figures: acute pancreatitis (5.2), acute gallbladder disease (5.3), hypoglycemia (5.4), acute kidney injury (5.5), severe gastrointestinal reactions (5.6), hypersensitivity reactions (5.7), diabetic retinopathy complications (5.8), heart rate increase (5.9), pulmonary aspiration under anesthesia (5.10).
- 2026-09-05 — Added the cardiovascular indication the tablet actually carries. Was: FDA approved for chronic weight management. Now: Cardiovascular risk reduction as well as chronic weight management, with the two differences from the injection named.
- 2026-09-05 — Rewrote the summary line and the drawbacks that still quoted the old price. Was: Summary line: $149 during titration; Novo does not publish what the 25 mg maintenance dose costs. Drawbacks: the $149 price on the 4 mg dose expires on 31 August 2026; Novo does not publish what the 25 mg maintenance dose costs. Now: Summary line: NovoCare self-pay is $149 a month at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg, and $299 at 9 mg and at the 25 mg dose you stay on. One drawback now says the $149 is the 1.5 mg month and the 25 mg month is $299; the drawback about an unpublished price is gone, and so is the marker that scored it zero on cost.
- 2026-09-05 — Changed the trial figure to the intention-to-treat result on the FDA label. Was: OASIS 4, phase 3: 16.6% mean weight loss on 25 mg once daily when treatment was adhered to. Now: 13.6% — Study 7 on the label (NCT05564117), 64 weeks: 13.6% mean weight loss on 25 mg once daily against 2.4% on placebo, intention-to-treat.
- 2026-09-04 — Added the maintenance price and corrected the range. Was: $149 to $199, with a note saying NovoCare published no price for the 25 mg maintenance dose. Now: $149 to $299, with $299 as the maintenance figure the score uses.
- 2026-08-19 — What the published price covers. Was: From about $149 a month. Now: $149 covers the 1.5 mg and 4 mg titration strengths only, and the 4 mg price ends 31 Aug 2026. Novo publishes no price for the 25 mg maintenance dose.
How this monthly figure is built
One price covering medication.
How much does Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide 25 mg) cost a month?
halfrx records Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide 25 mg) at $149–$299 a month all-in, read from its own published page on 2026-09-10. The figure that matters is $299 once titrated, because the starting dose is not the dose anyone stays on, and that is the number this site scores. It carries one flag on this site: boxed warning. It scores 6.5 out of 10 on a published formula that is arithmetic over the facts on this page, not an editor's opinion. The cheapest verified maintenance price on the site is $75, so this sits above the floor rather than at it. Average weight loss in the trial cited on the page is 13.6%. The medication is the branded, FDA-approved product rather than a compounded copy. The page rests on 8 cited sources, at least one of them a manufacturer, regulator or journal. Molecule: semaglutide.

What is good about Wegovy pill?
- +13.6% mean weight loss on the label's own 64-week trial, intention-to-treat — the strongest result of any oral weight-loss drug approved to date.[5]
- +No injections, no needle disposal, no refrigeration.[4]
- +Self-pay from roughly $149/mo direct from Novo Nordisk, against $1,349 list for the injection.[3]
- +Same molecule as Wegovy injection, which has years of post-marketing safety data behind it.[4]
What are the downsides of Wegovy pill?
- −The $149 headline is the 1.5 mg starting month only. The 4 mg month is $199, and every month from 9 mg up — including the 25 mg dose you stay on — is $299, twice the advertised figure.[1]
- −Oral semaglutide has strict dosing conditions — taken on an empty stomach with a small sip of water and nothing else for 30 minutes. Adherence in the real world is worse than in trials, which is why this site uses the label's intention-to-treat 13.6%, counting everyone randomized, and not the 16.6% the paper reports for those who kept taking it.[5]
- −Telehealth programs add a membership on top of the drug — Ro and Hims both charge $149 a month on a monthly plan — while Novo sells the pill direct at $149 to $299 depending on dose.
- −Its 13.6% in the label's 64-week trial is below the 20.9% tirzepatide reached in SURMOUNT-1 on Zepbound's label; these were separate trials, not a head-to-head.[8]
How this score is built
- 2.3/3.5Evidence — 13.6% mean weight loss, the intention-to-treat result on the FDA label
- 3.0/3Approval — FDA approved for cardiovascular risk reduction in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight, and for chronic weight management in adults. The tablet and the injection share one label with separate indication lists: the tablet is not approved for the MASH indication the injection carries, and not for patients under 18.
- 1.2/2.5Cost — $299/mo at maintenance
- 0.1/1Caveats — −0.9: newly approved −0.2, strict dosing rules −0.2, boxed warning −0.5

What Wegovy pill costs with insurance
There is no single figure, and any page giving one is describing a plan that is not necessarily yours. What decides it is below, and every part of it is checkable.
- Medicare GLP-1 Bridge: $50 a month. Who it is for: Part D beneficiaries 18 or older whose prescriber submits a prior authorization attesting the drug treats obesity, and who have a BMI of 35 or higher, a BMI of 30 or higher with diastolic heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension or stage 3a chronic kidney disease, or a BMI of 27 or higher with prediabetes, a previous heart attack or stroke, or symptomatic peripheral artery disease. Not for anyone with type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe sleep apnea or fatty liver disease, or whose Part D plan already covers a GLP-1. Covers all formulations of Foundayo and Wegovy, and the KwikPen formulation of Zepbound only — not the single-dose Zepbound vials or pens. The catch: The $50 does not count toward your Part D deductible or the out-of-pocket maximum, because the demonstration sits outside Part D coverage rather than inside it. It is also time-limited: a demonstration under Section 402 authority, not a benefit. The full terms, and every drug it covers.
- The indication on the prescription. A plan that excludes weight-loss drugs excludes the use, not the molecule — and Wegovy pill is separately approved for cardiovascular risk reduction, which that exclusion does not reach. What each drug is approved to treat.
- If the answer is no. The cash price is what remains, and it is on this page. Every verified route to the same drug is priced with the date each was read.
